Oh no! Anyway
It definitely wouldn’t be the left image. With legs like those, you could never pull the pants up past the first (or I guess technically last) level of branching. It would either be the big pants or a large number of seperate, smaller pants on each of the lowest branches.
Even more accurate is to say that he paid the salaries of a large number of animal “house workers” hence their catchphrase “It’s a living!” They all earned their living off of that one guy’s income
You could just get one-star yu-gi-oh card and boom, you’ve got a 1000/1000 that you can play without tapping anything. Unless your opponent has removal or something, you’re winning as soon as it can attack
Yeah its a pretty famous demonstration of the fact that we learn grammar seperately from individual words. IE most people add s to the end because thats what we normally do when we have a plural, even though we dont know what a wug is
I still think they should have continued the plot line of the books where he A) becomes a soldier in the French Army, B) discovers like 3 different lost cities of gold, and C) travels to the center of the earth
I use venmo only sparingly, but whenever I do I take a peek at that page, and see mostly old college friends I no longer talk to paying people I dont know for pizza or rent or whatever. It always feels creepy.
Basically they weren’t originally planning on taking a photo of earth from the moon. The fact that they even had a camera was due to interest from a few astronauts in the earlier missions. The camera had its viewfinder stripped to save weight, so the astronauts couldnt see what they were filming. On that mission they were only planning to take photos of the moon’s surface. And then they decided in the moment as the earthrise happened, that it needed to be photographed, and out of tons of shots they only got one clear image.
Maybe a little clickbaity but “It’s highly imporbable that they got this shot” doesn’t ring the same
Yeah I used to love this guy’s world record videos, like the ones for DOOM and Goldeneye. He was basically doing the same thing as SummoningSalt but it was entertaining. Then he just became a drama channel which I am not at all interested in.
This guy definitely read “The Game” and thought he was successfully negging
Never thought of it that way! What a dystopian world we live in where intelligent conversation dies because there’s no good way to profit off of it.
I liked season 4, but season 1 just can’t be topped for me because of how grounded it was. Just normal characters from a small town experiencing supernatural things in a way that’s believable. The rest of the show is good as long as you let go of any wishes that it stayed grounded like season 1.
Fair, I only ever finished one game
Correct! You’re the first person on Lemmy to get the reference
I bet it has to do with the average age of the gaming community getting older. I used to play Civ 5, EU4, CK2 all the time in college, when I have tons of free time and didnt care if I was up until 3 in the morning. Now that I have a life and a job, it takes like a week of 1-2 hour sessions to finish a game of civ 5, and the last time I played EU4, I played for several weeks and didnt even finish.
What, nobody read it before it was published? Whenever I’ve tried to publish anything it gets picked over with a fine toothed comb. But somehow they missed an entire paragraph of the AI equivalent of that joke from parks and rec: “I googled your symptoms and it looks like you have ‘network connectivity issues’”
This is in reference to a study where researchers put bananas in a primate enclosure (i think chimps, but would need to doublecheck) that were too high to reach. The chimps tried different solutions to reach the bananas, including stacking boxes. Suggests they are capable of abstract problem-solving, multi-step planning, insight, and other cognitive abilities.
It’s not super well-known outside of psychology, so my only guess as to why its a far side comic is that it was in the news that week
Yeah, I am, but I don’t want to put too much weight on my own experience. I got my PhD last year, so I went from living paycheck to paycheck on a grad student stipend to having a real job making decent money. Many other people are not doing as well as they were, so I don’t want my own anecdotal evidence to cloud my perception
