Yeah, I’m right here with you. I’ve explored hundreds of systems in Elite. I get excited when I find an interesting planet. It would be really weird and immersion breaking for me if every planet was interesting.
That’s what they eventually did. They do that with other countries as well.
I’m not really into playing 4x games multiplayer. But I did play Stellaris multiplayer. It can get pretty frantic if you don’t pause every now and then, but a far cry from boring.
Most people here are not capitalists. They’re workers like us and would benefit from socialism. But they’ve been subjected to nationalist and capitalist propaganda their entire lives, and that makes socialism become the boogeyman. It makes it hard for them to see how much they would benefit.
About damned time. I was checking the LGBT travel advisories a few months ago, and was surprised that the US was green. Absolutely no way should anyone be travelling to Florida.
When your overton window has fallen off the bloody table.
Yeah, you should only get your news from right wing media owned by oligarchs. That’s how you know it’s true.
Only then will the United States be able to focus entirely on containing China, which is of paramount importance to American security and prosperity.
Not to mention that line at the end. Freely admitting that the real problem with China is that they’re bigger than the US. Americans just cannot deal with the thought of not being able to bully the rest of the world.
I’m sorry, I have a really hard time reading your post. But I gather that you wanted to talk about crimes against the people instead of external entities? That’s sort of what I intended to do with the comm I created. A daily reporting of the US’ past human rights violations/crimes through its short history, in the style of western Tienanmen Square articles:
!daily_us_history@lemmygrad.ml
I’ve only been doing it for about a week and a half, but I already have a couple of posts there specifically relating to suppression of speech/media that doesn’t agree with the western narrative. The HUAC inquisition of anti-war protesters, and the attempted character assassination of a prominent journalist.
I haven’t fully decided on what I’m talking about tomorrow, but I’m leaning against talking about The Camden 28, so I’ll talk about it a bit here. They were a group that attempted to sabotage the draft for the Vietnam war. The FBI had them dead to rights, but the jury refused to convict. The war was THAT unpopular, but the government still took people off the streets and sent them halfway around the world to kill people who did nothing to them. That sounds pretty totalitarian to me.
Sorry to put you through that comrade. The title just really didn’t seem to fit to me, and we really don’t need misinformation here.
Where in the article does it say anything about nuclear weapons?
They’re already tracking you. We are all on a watch list. I’m sorry.
It makes more sense than this KLM ad:
There is only one unit of length in metric. The meter. Everything else is a multiple, which are typically base 10, and have standard prefixes. This applies to EVERY metric unit, including time. If you want to be weird and divide the meter into different bases, there’s nothing stopping you.
Fun fact actually, your SAE units are defined in metric. Why? Because metric units are precisely defined instead of being based on the king’s foot.
They are. The second is the only unit of time in the metric system. All of the regular SI prefixes apply. They just don’t fit the earth day perfectly, and nothing will, nor should they. Being earth centric is not good science.
30cm is about 12 inches.
When you say oz, is it fluid or weight? I know that there’s 20oz in a pint, aren’t there like 2 pints in a quart or something like that? It’s all insane.
Metric units are all related (mostly by water). It’s easy to see how they relate and visualise them based on that. Imperial units are just a Hodge podge of different kingly measurements
30cm has more divisors than 12 inches. And we don’t use base 12 numbers. And last I checked, most imperial conversions weren’t base 12 anyway.
My very first real post here was this. I made the argument that even if all the insane crap that Stalin is accused of doing were true, it pales in comparison to what the US actually did. Why is it okay to ignore all that murder and villainy, and instead focus on Stalin, who was actually trying to make things better for the working people, instead of enriching the rich?
