I just stumbled into this discussion, but it seems to me like you were the one to introduce extremism when you took an ideology and called yourself the “polar opposite” of it.
Some glass can be surprisingly strong to the extent that it feels wrong and unintuitive.
Not auto glass in my anecdote, but last year I had a medium sized aquarium (30 gallons, ~114 liters) where the bottom got broken. I didn’t need to fix it because I had a bigger spare waiting, so I decided to break it apart to more easily package the glass into a safe container for disposal or recycling.
I was able to smack that thing on a wide flat surface with a HAMMER and have it bounce right off. They were really hard swings too. My biggest concern was how freaking loud the hits were, like I was going to disturb a neighbor in their house or make them think they heard a gunshot. My second biggest concern was that I was going to fling glass across the yard using so much force. I believe put it into a large bin or wrapped it in something before I got the courage to turn it up to 11 and break the fucker.
I think I used a 3lb drilling hammer too, which looks like a mini sledgehammer. Heavier than a standard claw hammer, just not very pointy.

Yeah but can you imagine the humiliation if it didn’t work and he accidentally just saved millions of lives without getting rid of 100.0% of the problem?
This would hit a lot harder for me if I didn’t spend the last decade watching a disturbing fraction of the population not just vote for, but vocally support and make a part of their personality, one of the worst people on the planet. (edit: you know, the “greater of two evils.”)

I actually used to do single dots in my own file/folder names. It’s probably my favorite way visually, since it’s a minimal separator and as you showed it works without a separator at all.
oh yeah. There are numerous benefits to the format itself, outside the question of hyphens vs slashes.
I find the sortability quite satisfying, but also as somebody living in the US, I also like that it’s unambiguous regardless of my audience. Hell, half the time I see people hand-write a date on something they don’t even use a year.

Yep and it needs to use hyphens and not slashes. It helps avoid missed typos or mis-reads in some situations, especially if hand-written.

I’m not suggesting that saying is wrong, but I think people can mechanically go through the process of acquiring fancy-looking experiences because that is what you’re SUPPOSED to do, just like people can collect fancy-looking posessions on auto pilot because that’s what it means to be a successful person.
The last thing you said about people who claim they are “traveling” and not “vacationing” just REEKS of a hollow charade trying to prove that they are part of the upper crust of society.
The catch in all this is that we all have our own individualized needs, and a big part of the self-care work we need to do is figuring out what those things are. Like traveling and having fun vacations is awesome, but for most of us it’s not going to be some instant key to life fulfillment. In my case, have always loved nature in general and aquatic life in particular. Some of my best vacation memories are swimming in little pockets of the ocean that looked like giant aquariums full of colorful fish and corals. But that’s a rare occurrence and I will also never want to live somewhere tropical. Solution? I built a nice koi pond in my little back yard (in addition to all the other pets my family has). And in addition to the whole “caring for and interacting with water critters” angle, I got to do a lot of learning about chemistry and biology that are nowhere near my professional field, and I got to do a lot of DIYing, and I got a lot of exercise and fresh air out of it too! It helped much more than just my brain.
Your first point is so huge IMO. If you can’t enjoy being at your own home then trying to have some kind of fulfilling life is going to be a steeper uphill battle than it already was.
Look at it like the Buddhists and stoics. Thinking your happiness is out there waiting on some beach, or in some fancy car or McMansion, is only going to perpetuate your suffering in the actual real now.
Or put another way, if you decide to find happiness and fulfillment in your home and your local community, and it works, then THEY can’t stop you. Whoever that is in your case.

Many people treat their dog like it’s a piece of furniture, like it’s just something you are supposed to have in a normal home. Hell, plenty of people seem to be that way about their own human children.
I guess some of them might have their dog for paranoia reasons too, like its presence is going to make them more safe.
