Let’s not be unreasonable, there can be multiple causes and multiple solutions.
Those countries also used to have a more communal structure amongst families and that still was dismantled.
But they actually implemented social programs and living wages making it not an issue.
Also yes it is capitalism fault. It all is, including the dismantling of our communities to favor more isolated living. It’s design to separate us and disempower the worker.
That probably explains the censorship crackdowns
I’d blame a lot of this on the destruction of our communal living patterns. We used to live in extended family groups. It was reasonable and expected to live with your parents and siblings. If you did leave the family home it often was just to build a home on the same property.
But then the idea of the nuclear family was popularized, probably to make more money and sell house, and here we are.
To be clear since what I said has been immediately misinterpreted, family centric living patterns were torn apart by capitalism. It heavily favors capitalism when we are separated from each other and lose community. This wasn’t a benign social shift
Fire red will always be my number one as it was my first game.
Otherwise it’s a hard choice between Sapphire and Heartgold. Both had great regions and lots to do.
My most played would be Diamond and it was good, but sinnoh was never my favorite region.
I don’t think he’ll live more than 4 years anyway. Hopefully the movement collapses when he does
I made a comment self censored to “Mario bros” on reddit. Got a permanent ban. They’re going scorched earth on anything moderately inflammatory
And this is why I’m glad I moved to lemmy. I was banned for supporting Luigi. A permanent ban, after 12 years.
Lemmy has a bit of a learning curve, but in time it’s UI will improve. Then it’s user base will grow. Honestly it’s not that hard to use, but there’s a bit of a learning curve.
I don’t want it to get reddit sized by any means, but for longer term success it’ll need a significant increase in traffic. Which reddit’s admins will be providing with all these bans.
You can find that on Reddit, but now it gets you permanently banned. And that’s why after 12 years of reddit I’m here. It’s a much nicer place. Currently less conversation, but decent quality.
That’s why I’m here
And by privilege you mean access to basic freedom and the pursuit of knowledge.
Most scientists are underpaid and overworked.
26 was the last age I didn’t notice wrinkles and could grow a good beard. The beard keeps people from perceiving you as young.
And it’s only getting worse. The roads in my town this weekend were desolate. I fear it’s from people staying in.
Plus walmart is busier than ever, which is a bad sign. People turn to cheaper retailers in bad economies.
And to keep the private tax filing agencies afloat
Oddly enough it kinda does. OT can make you pay out more taxes on that one check since withholdings are calculated by check. Basically the government/payroll system thinks you’re going to be making that every week so more taxes will be taken out.
In reality this only effects the size of your tax bill or return at the end of the year.
I liked my karma back on my old reddit account (before being banned from supporting Luigi), but that is because I had the account for 12 years and invested too much time into it.
So far I’m enjoying the laid back nature of lemmy. Hopefully there will be more engagement, maybe some UI updates too. But overall I’m liking the switch. The conversations and posts feel more real.
Everyday I’m shocked this is allowed to continue
Not a brand, buy I will never stop or buy anything within the city limits of Antlers, Oklahoma
I bought a really cheap 11 dollar wireless charger for my car and it has lasted a crazy amount of time. It opens and closes with a sensor or a nub on the back that I run my finger across.
I did not expect it to last 6 years, but it’s still going strong. It even survived me flipping my car.
Honestly same. I haven’t spoken with my dad in months thanks to his MAGA views. I blame this “fuck you I got mine” as a result of community destruction
