RAM that’s hogged by windows is wasted RAM. It should be used by programs and for caching.

The Pi 4 & 5 are no good for tinkering anymore, but the Pi Pico microcontrollers still are. I just hope they don’t screw that up too.

Mumble is much better for gaming. It’s lightweight and doesn’t use the GPU at all. Since it’s self hosted, there is no ID verification.

There are ways to obfuscate VPN traffic that’s resistant to DPI. It makes it look like normal HTTPS traffic. That will make completely blocking VPNs difficult. I’m sure even more effective obfuscation methods will be developed if VPN blocking becomes widespread.

Those LED strips don’t need any drivers since they have current limiting resistors built in. They just need a DC power supply. If you use a clean power supply, there won’t be any noise.

That capacitor has snap-in leads. It’s normal for them to be that short.

They are not hard to solder. Just use a big chisel tip and it will only take a few seconds per lead.

There’s a hole in the screen where the front camera is. The screen corners are also about as round as a 1950s TV. That’s very annoying when apps are not aware of it and things get cut off.

If your Eneloops are failing that much, they are either being over discharged or something is wrong with your charger.

All of my Eneloops have been much more reliable than lithium ion batteries.

I’m sure someone could figure out how to boot Linux on a vacuum tube computer. The problem is there just aren’t that many around that are still operational.

The Steam Deck uses a M.2 2230 SSD. They are slightly smaller than an SD card. I wish phones would start using them. The performance is way better than and SD card or EMMC.

Having an alert go off if it gets too warm would be useful. That just needs a smart temperature sensor connected to your HA server though.

They are just being greedy bastards. If they are worried about support issues, they should just say no support or warranty if the board wasn’t bought from an approved reseller.

It can work as long as the phone has an option to limit the battery charge to 80% or less. Keeping the battery fully charged for an extended amount of time will damage it and may even cause it to puff up.
