Baby leftist. Slowly learning since it finally hit home that all the “nice things” said by liberal politicians were hollow and really only further the problems I saw around me. The more I read the more I realize there is much much work to be done.

  • I have a good list on my kobo waiting for the opportunities to dig in, I get to spend some time almost every day.

I have a good bit of the basics, and when there’s a decent bit of age on them they can get a little heavier… I’ll take a break and read some parenti because my brain can digest that easily. But there’s been PLENTY of “ah ha! MFr” moments in Marx’s heavier stuff where something fell into place

  • I was able to fix my account on a different instance because I was still logged in on a browser. Once you save the “enable 2fa” button press it’s on, and I couldn’t turn it off. I had to reload the page and it showed the set up 2fa button, but instead of it doing something when I clicked on it, it has the exact link that my password manager needed to generate the 2fa and my browser doesn’t know what to do with it. I just copied the link and pasted it into my password manager where you usually scan a QR? It generates the codes correctly now and I was able to log in on other apps and devices.

As long as you have a browser that’s logged into the instance, you can regain ability to log things in, just in my experience.

If I’m understanding correctly it’s affecting all lemmy instances.

  • From what I’ve been reading and creators I’ve watched, (you can dump on that if you want, I’m working on learning from a lot of different angles) anarchists have a lot to offer to revolutions and the process, but as I understand it where we as communists differ is how we view centralism.

Whereas during revolution tactical anarchism is a big strength as separation but it has to have centralized goals, aims, and general guardrails. And once the revolution has began rolling, government being established and whatnot, the balance of bottom up for governance and top down for protection of rights and services becomes a lot more important.

I could be way off but my understanding is that a good portion of anarchists are comrades that have witnessed what liberal governments have done and are destroying and with their information decided that governments are not to be trusted, and also lack an understanding of theory.

But to the thing I’m actually replying to 🤣 I’ll ride with the rest of us and see how it goes

  • I think that would be awesome, I’m still learning a lot and that could be helpful.

I do also believe that my understanding of communism and my place in it calls for a lot more interpersonal connections than I cultivate 🥴

I’ve been messing with bard a little seeing what questions it will answer and how those answers line up with what I’ve been learning from lately and how I’ve been fed a steady diet of propaganda in US schools… And it’s easy to see from the questions I’ve asked that it SEEMS to have been trained on a good bit of factual info but clearly from the lens of “liberal democracy=good” even as far as acknowledging that many conflicts in my life, if asked about the situations, as I’ve come to understand them, that happened initially destabilizing certain areas, had “fear of communism” high in the list of reasons. Obviously it’s a program trained on certain information, and with guardrails installed. If asked about how much devastation the US has caused related to fearing communism it will talk about that, but if you ask for example “why has the US supported fascists” I got a road block and it stopped answering lmao.

Obviously just anecdotal about me playing with an existing program, and I’d love to see one trained on a large variety of different leftist theory and writings. It would still need to be used with the broad understanding that in the end, it’s just a program that takes input and processes it and spits some info out, and shouldn’t be trusted more than pointing us in directions for more study.
