No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does alcohol speed up evolution?English
7·8 months agoOf course!
You need to have evolutionary pressure to have directed evolution, and “alcoholism is a disadvantage” is as good as any. By drinking more, one reduces their and their kids’ chances to survive, making those alcoholic genes less frequent.
By the way, I hear propensity to alcoholism is also an inheritable trait.
From birth to death.
My bed, normally, with a rare nap on the couch. Why would anyone sleep on food?
When I read the title, my first thought was: “Must have gotten it out via liposuction, but how does the replacement go in?”
Then the obvious hit me - just drink the new oil.

1·8 months agoPretty fast. Not myself, an ambulance driver wanted to get to a nurse’s birthday party - and back - during their lunch break, or somenhing. Sirens wailing.
Me too. What would I do with it, anyway.

Rsync can do incremental backups with a command-line switch and some symlink jugglery. I’m using it to back up my self-hosted stuff.

11·10 months agoI have an Egyptian coworker (immigration laws, yay) and I’d not call his skin color brown (as in “brown bear” brown). More like a rather well tanned local person. I’d have a hard time calling him non-white, unless in comparison with an Irish person or something…

OpenChristian@lemm.ee•What are some of the most ignorant things you have seen some Christians believe?English
11·10 months agoWhat kind of skin did He have anyway? The Jews I’ve seen (admittedly not many) were pretty light-skinned (though with dark hair).

I just mowed (parts of) my lawn. Left some clumps of different wildflowers standing, dandelions included.
I’m glad my neighbourhood does not have a Lawn Enforcement Agency.
