That’s awesome, I love how excited cats are about their favorite routines. Does she ever go sit there and look at you like she’s asking for something to sniff?

What a warm, loving thing to do for your companion. He got to keep some normalcy with the added comfort of being held by his person. Thank you for sharing, that made me happy.
Definitely, my cats love to sniff all of my cooked meals. I’ll bring it to them if they’re lounging to pay the sniff tax!
I normally set the grocery bags down when I get home and let them investigate before I put stuff away.
That’s good enrichment right there! Cats love to investigate new and interesting smells within their territory.

Criticize the government and the individuals running it, criticize the citizens that are supporting this genocide. Don’t make it about the ethnic group.

doctordevice@lemmy.cato News@lemmy.world•Slurs, 911 calls and a crossbow: Records detail neighborhood disputes before Jonathan Joss' killing49·15 days agoYeah, I agree. This article paints a bit of a different picture than the initial ones. Idgaf what dispute two of my neighbors are having with each other, if one of them is drumming and loudly singing late at night I’m calling in a noise complaint, god damn.
I’ll tell you what I’m not doing though:
- Arson
- Psychological torment leaving a pet skull in a burned home
- Murder
Whoever killed Joss is fucked up, even if 1 and 2 aren’t actually true (barbecue inside…???). Regardless of how much of an ass Joss might have been as a neighbor.
As a matter of fact, don’t let nothin’ hold you back. If the Scat Man can do it, brother, so can you!
The effort you put into this is so impressive! What a lovely post to read.
Never underestimate stupidity. Though I do think it’s at least not normally people trying to connect two strands that are themselves already live. It’s normally people who are connecting several strands together and started at the end not plugged in with the male end poking out, not realizing that this means when they’re done stringing and go to plug in they’ve got the female end and no way to plug it in.
Left facing the daunting task of completely undoing all the work they just did, they try to look for something to bridge the gap without thinking through to the danger.
I appreciate a good “um actually” but this really is about Christmas lights. People really are stupid enough for this to be something posted specifically around December.
As far as I can tell from a reverse image search this is the original. (Not linking to the other place, DM me if you want the link for some reason).
I’m gonna guess winter, hanging Christmas lights. People string up their lights and then realize far too late that they put two strands with female ends facing each other and instead of restringing they look for a male-to-male cord to bridge the gap.
A little live wire shouldn’t stand in the way of holiday cheer, after all.
doctordevice@lemmy.cato politics @lemmy.world•Dems Hemorrhaged Support from All Demographics in 2024 — Including New Voters0·30 days agoGonna continue to call bullshit here. The grassroots movement failing to gather momentum in the face of propaganda at the cost of the nation’s future is not the same as the Democrats blaming a minority for their own failures. Not even a little bit, can you please reflect a little on how absurd that claim is?
You’re also not comparing apples to apples here. First: the Tea Party was an unknown element, there hadn’t been a growing fringe movement like that within a major party for a century. The Democrats had the benefit of seeing that happen on the right. Second, the Republicans were willing to embrace the crazy of the Tea Party for the sake of their continuing victory. Very much in contrast, the Democrats are very clearly willing to sacrifice national victory in order to keep progressives down. Three elections in a row they’ve insisted on running the most centrist candidate possible, resulting two very predictable losses and one surprising victory.
Democrats insist on siding with money and corporations every time, their failures are their own fault, and very much also the fault of their supporters.
doctordevice@lemmy.cato politics @lemmy.world•Dems Hemorrhaged Support from All Demographics in 2024 — Including New Voters0·30 days agoSee the part about the Democratic Party actively working against progressives, to the point of funding propaganda against them. The Dems saw the Tea Party and care more about avoiding that with progressives than they do about running candidates that can either beat the Republicans or serve the people.
And from what you just said: you’d better have never once blamed progressives for losing the Democrats an election if you’re taking the “progressives are too weak” position.
doctordevice@lemmy.cato politics @lemmy.world•Dems Hemorrhaged Support from All Demographics in 2024 — Including New Voters0·1 month agoSome of us have been trying. The masses tend to bully and tell us it’s all our fault, somehow. According to the Democrats and their base, progressives are simultaneously too weak and unimportant to listen to, and so powerful that we can swing entire elections. I’m still waiting to hear how that one makes sense.
doctordevice@lemmy.cato conservative@lemmy.world•The Right Oppresses, The Left Liberates4·1 month agoI’ve got bad news for you. Clockwise/counterclockwise depends on which way you’re looking at the screw.
Turns out either way you need to make assumptions about perspective.
Same for me. When I need to, I like to go for regular checkout lanes without a bagger so I can move to the end and offer to bag my own things. It gives me something to do rather than just stand there awkwardly.
There’s one cashier at my local grocery store who will often add a 10% discount as a thank you. Which is actually a crazy wage for the couple minutes of work.
I also play a game at Trader Joe’s where usually I’m mostly stocking my freezer so it’s a lot of boxes. I make my cart the neatest damn cart I can and I win my game if the cashier comments on it.

Free falling off a bridge with just a rope tied around your waist that stops you? At the very least your back is fully broken, but that fall looked long enough that you should just be dead. Full Gwen Stacy.
doctordevice@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do movies always get wrong about your job/hobby?5·1 month agoYeah, I love that show. They do a really good job staying grounded in real physics when they’re not in the fiction side of sci-fi. IMO, their space mechanics are unmatched in sci-fi.
I love lots of franchises that also do it poorly, but I’m always pleased when they go the extra mile.
That’s so very Christian. Oh yes, this nice young kid who gleefully responded to let you sit next to him just isn’t interested in your religion and respectfully declined your unwarranted solicitation. That means he’s a sinner and you have to actively self-regulate not to hate him?
