I think the biggest competition to consoles is tablets. A lot of Gen Alpha doesn’t even know how to use a controller. EDIT I guess noone on Lemmy actually pays attention to kids these days…

Additionally, China has recently been extremely belligerent concerning the border with India, which is a continuation of what has been happening since the 1960’s.

Historically, you’ve also forgotten the CCPs military actions against Tibet, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, and the many border conflicts with Russia/USSR.
