They’ve been pretty fun reads so far, but this 7th book has been a bit of a slog. I think I finally got over some of the more boring parts last night, so hoping the rest of the book is easier to finish.

I just bought a pixel 8a for my father in law because it was supposed to come with 7 version upgrades before being left to rot. Not the most annoying, but the most stupid and simple: The fact that even in windows 10 (not sure about 11), you couldn’t set custom keyboard shortcuts for volume up and down. I have had the right Ctrl+shift+up/down arrows bound to the volume up/down, since i started using Linux as my desktop fulltime over 10 years ago, and windows still won’t let you do that out of the box.

You seems to not grasp why people don’t like the mouse charging design. Yes you can do all of those things you mentioned and its probably fine. Why people hate it though? Apple is forcing you to use their products the way they want you to. You’re changing your whole workflow to bend to their will. That’s why people hate it. Not that it’s a problem, but that you now have to mess around and take 15 minutes out or your day waiting for a mouse to charge instead of… Just plugging in a cable to a port, positioned in a sane way, the top side of the mouse!

But instead, people make up excuses and are totally fine having a corporation tell them “go get some coffee, because of our design decisions, you can’t use your product right now…”

Like, its just a weird, stupid, petty design decision. Imagine if your laptop wouldn’t charge while you used it, while every other laptop can. Sure it can have amazing battery life, but the 1 time it dies, you have to stop your work, and wait for it to charge, before using the laptop again all because someone said ‘nah, I don’t want the user to be able to use the product that way.’

Again, its stupid and petty.

Been wanting to read this, but I’m halfway through book 7 of 8 of the witcher series, and I don’t want to leave the series undone before switching to the next book. The witcher series has been great, but this book is getting slow and hard to finish.

I finally got bored enough on a plane to watch the 3 body problem TV show. Based on liking the TV show, I’m hoping I’m gonna like the book too.

I just don’t think the user has a good sense of humor. I can totally laugh at Linux memes poking fun at users , distros, etc. But some of this users memes are just not funny, with a childish sense of humor. That’s fine, but then don’t expect a lot of up votes for what essentially amounts to fart and poop joke style of humor…

They went from a sort of funny post, this one about making a cake yourself from ingredients, similar to compiling everything yourself (sort of funny), to the post we’re currently commenting on, (not funny)

These memes just aren’t that funny. Its like making a meme that just says ‘windows users are stoopid!’ Even if you agree with that statement, its not funny…

As an example of one I do find funny, the first time I saw the arch user urinal meme, I chuckled a bit. Obviously after 50 million reposts its not as funny, but this isn’t like a top tier clever meme, and its funnier than anything this guy has posted.

Everyone thinks they’ll be in the ‘in group’ with a dictator. The only ‘in group’ is the dictator themselves. As you said, over time the ‘in group’ gets smaller and smaller. Really frustrating how people still champion this shit on thinking they’ll be in the special group too!

“It’s a wonderful Life”. I’m not religious but the message of the movie is very straight forward, and very important. Be a good person, always try to help others, have integrity, and try to make meaningful connections with people. You also don’t have to have a long list of accomplishments to have a meaningful life, as long you positively affect others, you’ve done good.

It’s a wonderful life used to be my favorite movie to watch around Christmas time, to remind myself of whats important in life, but now I’ve added:

I never got the appeal of chick-fil-A, I finally tried like 6 or 7 years ago because someone i knew was raving about it. It was so greasy I got sick a few hours after eating it, I haven’t had it since. I don’t understand how everyone is sitting there eating the greasiest food I’ve ever had and then pretending like they’re not getting the shits an hour later, while they’re raving about it online and to your face. Also its not like I eat veggies 24/7 so fast food obviously upset my stomach… I eat my fair share of pub food, burgers/fries/tater tots, etc…

That, mixed with their political stance, and they can fuck right off.
