At least some of the protestors know it’s the fault of companies like airbnb and similar, and are advocating for restricting them(which is already in the works and was announced last month). They mostly want to limit the amount of private residences being rented out to tourists, to get more reasonable number of visitors.
The ones running around with water pistols and blaming most things on tourists, don’t understand very basic economics. Because while cutting off most tourism might indeed lower housing cost quite a bit. It will also massively lower the demand for jobs, salaries will plummet, etc., because so much of their local economy is tied to tourism. So relatively speaking many wont notice a big difference in percentage of salary spent on housing, if they block most tourism.
Yeah, that was started when Iraq invaded them.
He must’ve said something that threatened the people in power.
If you’d taken a few seconds to open the article, that is explained in the opening sentence.
Here it is for the other lazy people:
Saudi authorities arrested al-Jasser in 2018 and seized his devices, believing that he was behind an X, then known as Twitter, account that documented allegations of corruption within the Saudi royal family
Just to be clear: Snopes is not trustworthy, they lie with clear political motivation.
They’re not even trying to hide it, as they said “The available evidence is too scant to draw a solid conclusion.” about Elons saluting.
I wonder how many hundreds of millions of dollars they’ve set aside for settlements.
Their comment was indicating that laptop batteries will be damaged if left plugged in constantly. Which is a thing that can happen with some laptops, and most old ones.
My comment was about how some modern laptops when left plugged in, will charge the battery and then start running directly from the wall-power once the battery is full. They bypass the charging once it is indicated to have a “full charge”.
Silence peasant, lest you go to the pillory!
-The gentry
That depends on the age and quality of the laptop. It’s been a while since some started directly running off the cable when the battery is full.
Wait a minute… Every single officer?
I wonder how many people in LA have a single cop for a neighbor.
You can still control a drone, get on the bus!
-Fascists
That’s because all the people who don’t have issues, aren’t going to make comments about not having issues in a community that is basically dedicated to shitting on it(seriously, check top posts. It’s not “haha linux funny meme”, it’s “windows bad” over and over again).
Even if they do make a commen, like you, they get downvoted by people who like to wallow in misery.
It gets worse.
Her dad is implied to want to abuse her, and she feels empowered after unbuckling one of their pants after he initially doesn’t want to do it, since she’s doing it on “her terms”. And he starts crying afterwards. The whole thing is real fucked up.
Understandably both the miniseries and movies ignore and skip that whole thing.
I don’t really disagree with you, and think she’s off in her assement, but she has brought them up in relation to the writing:
This band is so in touch for me with Jacob’s character. This really raw, uncontrolled emotion — where it’s not about some person who’s grown up and callused over and learned how to control things. It’s someone who’s feeling it for the first time and just wants to go out and blow things up. The song ‘Famous Last Words’ is a really romantic version of Jacob saying, 'Okay, I’m putting myself out there, and you’re probably going to break me, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still going to make the offer.
-Stephenie Meyer
It just goes primarily after kids because it’s easier to drive them to terror (adult fears are more complex)
They weakened it, and did something that changed how it can interact with them by transitioning to a different state. Unifying, just like with the fight, as a way to overcome the power. That’s why they remember the way out after the act. Which shows that it was literally a way for them to escape the power, at least temporarily.
The sexual act connected childhood and adulthood. It’s another version of the glass tunnel that connects the children’s library and the adult library.
-Stephen King
The book even specified that the intent was for them to be together and unified as a group again, like they had to be for the fight. And they instantly remember the way out after they’re finished. Just because they don’t spell out that their explicit intent was to escape him by having sex, doesn’t exclude that meaning.
That’s an amazing reference, but even Wheatly is far beyond these things. And he was “hallucinating”/confidently wrong.
He thought was speaking Spanish at one point, but what he actually says is something like “You’re using this translation software incorrectly, please consult the manual”.
Yeah it’s often overlooked that one of the main struggles have been local infrastructure and production to make African countries self-sufficient. And with over a decade of Chinese infrastructure like modern roads able to handle trucks being built, and removal of these tariffs. It opens the door to expand production and long term growth.
There are of course negative aspects involved, but it’s still a potential game changer when it comes to global trade and production.
A few notes:
They were 11
She describes it in way more detail than you’d ever want
It was supposed to be them going from innocent kids towards adulthood, so Pennywise would no longer want to eat them. And it is how they find their way back out.
It was written towards the tail end of his over decade long alcohol and cocaine binge(he doesn’t remember writing several of the books in that period, especially Cujo)
Good for her, but I can’t take articles serious when they use slam, slamming or slammed repeatedly and and unironically.
