Legacy admission students aren’t usually that quiet about it. In my college experience, a lot of them will tell you of their legacy stars with zero prompting. I don’t think that penalty will inhibit universities at all.

Instead, start cracking down on collegiate sports for colleges that break the law. UCs and CSUs will comply with this if you write the law so that college athletes are prohibited from playing ranked sports with other colleges until all legacy admissions are banned and anyone who got in via legacy is kicked out. But of course Newsom would never do that - it’s catastrophically unpopular! He can’t stand being the tiniest bit unpopular, he’s gonna try to be President someday! Screw that guy.

Whenever anyone asks me what fictional universe I want to live in, I say the Culture universe. Hands down the best sci-fi universe to live in as a regular humanoid. It’s a post-scarcity galactic paradise where if I ever get bored, I can plug into a Matrix-style simulation of any other fictional universe that’s 100% real to my senses. Or I’ll take any of a number of drugs that a gland in my brain can generate at will for shiggles. The possibilities are limitless.

Dunno about bike infrastructure in San Francisco as I’ve only been there a few times, but one variable you should mind is that South Lake Tahoe is snowy during a good chunk of the winter. Don’t plan to move there and bike around unless you’re comfortable biking in the snow.

It can be warm in Tahoe in the summer, but the snow is a certainty and cannot be avoided if you’re living there. Tahoe is usually fairly mild, or it has been while I’ve been there. It’s also way high up in elevation, which can cause respiratory problems for some until they acclimate.

Has this judge even been to court before? If you’re not there to sue or be sued(or tried) or to watch someone for a specific reason, then court is boring as hell. Instead of punishing someone who fell asleep, congratulate those who stayed awake - that’s far more worthy of notice.

I don’t have kids and won’t. In my experience as a tenant renting various crap shacks, both children and adults can be loud and annoying, so it’s not like renting to adults only will bring the noise level down. Kids run around and scream, but adults work on endless home improvement projects, or have lots of loud argumentative sex, or play an electric drum kit until 2am. Lots of variety. Point being that anyone has the potential to be a bad neighbor.

The double standard of topless & male-presenting being ok but topless & female-presenting not being okay is confusing and pointless. The rule won’t force anyone to go topless if they’d prefer not to. It just levels the playing field for everyone.

I’ve seen men with much bigger boobs than women proudly display them at every beach, lake and festival I’ve ever been to. Why is that ok but not ok for women? Nobody can give me a good answer that’s not tied into some patriarchal, thought-terminating religious BS. Everyone should have the option to go topless, irrespective of chosen gender.

They are all around here. The US will never get rid of them as we’ve got a big corporation that keeps lobbying for pennies to keep being made. That company by the way is the company that makes the blanks for pennies. So they’ll stick around forever, since the lobbying effort is cheaper then coming up with a new business plan that doesn’t involve survival on the governments dime(or penny as it were).

I stopped picking up pennies. It’s no longer worth the time or effort to get them.
