The same day Taylor Swift posted a message encouraging her followers to register to vote, over 35,000 people reportedly made a âRun (Taylorâs Version)â to do so on Vote.org.
âVote.org saw record-breaking traffic to our site this week as we celebrated National Voter Registration Day, a highly encouraging sign of voter enthusiasm especially among newly eligible voters. Time and time again young people are showing up and demonstrating they care about their rights and access to the ballot box,â Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org said in a release.
The American multi-genre singer-songwriterâs post also linked to the organizationâs website, according to the release. In the Instagram post, Swift called on her army of fans, also known as âSwiftiesâ to â[r]egister to vote in less than 2 minutesâ via the nonprofitâs site.
Iâm not trying to let the perfect be the enemy of the good here, Iâm more castigating her fans than her. Theyâll go nuts to get tickets to a concert, but ask them to register to vote, not even vote, and do it online⌠too hard.
I think a lot of her fanbase doesnât meet the age requirement to vote
Since they said that was record breaking volume for the site, itâs entirely possible that they gave it the Swiftie Hug of Death
Fair and saddening
