the fediverse chat protocol
started as a seperate project but is spiritually very aligned with the rest of the fediverse
so it got “included” to the fediverse (not compatible with ActivityPub)
if you want to try it: https://element.io/ (or other clients: https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/ )
so the way usernames are managed is @username:instance, so, if I’m in the matrix one, it would be @elrecoal19:matrix.org, and yet I can contact people on other instances like @friend:differentInstance, right?
