On conservatives@hilariouschaos, they shared a Babylon bee meme saying marines were invading a 3rd world country meaning California I pointed out that Californias existence allows their racist red states to exist. Despite me being “upvoted” with citations that were asked for, and them being negative, my posts were deleted. I wasn’t aware that hilariouschaos was as bad as .ml or worse.

Try messaging the admins about it. If you have things archived, that can help too. If they deem the issue is severe enough they might consider defederation. For now, you can block the instance.

See, this is the first I’ve heard of all of this. Obviously I recognize them from the weird name, but I had no idea what they represent.

It’s not exactly a secret, but neither is that .world really wants to federate with everyone.

You can block the whole instance yourself, as well as individual communities.

But anytime you see one about “conservatism” it’s gonna be a troll community. Either trolling everyone else, or to troll the handful of conservatives that are on here

Don’t get hung up on idiots using the internet, just block them and move on

I tend to agree but I’m sick of giving stupid people a voice. This is how they became prominent in the first place. Anti-vaxxers, Russian propagandists, this isn’t something we should allow. Blocking it doesn’t solve anything in the same way that appeasement doesn’t stop dictators. Let them have tiktok and Facebook. But not here.

        You’re not “giving them a voice”…

        You’re feeding the trolls

Like, it’s fucking Lemmy, you’re not out there protecting millions of people from misinformation. You’re the reason they’re doing it in the first place

Without people like you, they wouldn’t still be doing it.

So I’m gonna take my own advice

hard disagree. arent we past the stage where we dismiss right-wingers as trolls? they are always “just trolls”, until there is enough of them to cause an issue for everyone. if they are on lemmy, that to me points towards them wanting to establish a community here. why? no idea. but it always starts with “just a few trolls”

            To get attention…

Commenting on their posts to tell them they’re wrong, upvoting people who already have, or even downvoting the post is all “engagement” which shoves the problematic community down every one else’s feed. Even making those “community spotlights” fairly regularly.

I mean, you’re flat out saying you don’t understand, I’m putting effort in to help you explain why not to feed the trolls…

This isn’t new, this is basic internet literacy. They might not even be MAGA, they just know if they say there are, a steady stream of people will go to their communities, get banned, and then complain.

Which just draws more people into the cycle

Do you honestly not understand that?

i dont understand why you label these people as trolls. to me they seem entirely sincere. and it seems to me like you just assume they are trolls because they are a right-wing minority, but thats the point: while they are a loud minority, they are seen as harmless trolls (even though i dont see a reason to assume that), once they get a critical mass going, everyone all of sudden realizes that they are actual nazis, and we got a nazi-bar situation on our hand. this happens again and again; ignoring never worked. if your assumption was right, they would leave this place if (for whatever reason) the leftists went away. do you actually believe that?

          God damn. Ok.

Edit: I want to point out the irony in your name. Give some fucks. Yeah, we can’t do anything about mega corporations, but that’s why we’re here right? It’s not a huge audience, but we’re here cause we have a say, correct? So maybe try and give some fucks, take away the voice of people who spread hate and misinformation?

As far as I’m aware hilariouschaos is already quite widely defederated. If they keep their right-wing idiocy up, more defederation will follow. OP directly aksing for it is fine.
