Seeing the phrase bandied about too often lately. And frequently at stuff that is genuine.

Ah, remember when people kept calling things “emo” but nobody knew what that meant?

They’d just gotten over the whole “goth” notion and suddenly there’s something new.

eurgh. Poisoned both the dating pool and the metal bands. There’s like 2 bands that did good with that kind of metalcore/emo , higher pitched screaming vocals (NB : these are not emo bands), Dillinger Escape Plan and Between the Buried and Me.

              Coheed & Cambria

Dillinger is a child of the hardcore scene and side steps emo entirely.

BTBAM os adult contemporary death metal and isn’t emo sounding at all.

Dillinger NOR BTBAM sound anything close to emo, which isn’t dead.

Those emo kids would be mad if they could read over their stretched earlobes

                  Ok. Let me rephrase.

BTBAM and Dillinger don’t have vocals that even sound like emo/emocore.

That you’ve lumped them in is telling.

They’re wildly outside of the genre and sound nothing like it.

So your comparison to emo with those bands is just you saying you like those bands and not emo. Which is fine.
