I did some digging to try to remember the mascot lady and the “You have… e-mail” recording , but found nothing.
Anyone else in to guide me get to my nostalgia trip?

British America On-Line? Were their sound different from American America On-Line?
They had a female mascot in the adverts, and the same actress did the voice announcements for things like “You have Email” , “Welcome to AOL”. The US one had a male voice (not sure if they had a mascot) , and there is a contraction in their “You’ve got mail” announcement.

I like y’all’s voice better, but I also think our delivery is better. It feels like “you’ve got mail” doesn’t work as well in British, but there’s surely got to be an ideal way to mash it up to have her voice with his brevity and levity.
