I think it works better the other way around:

Yeah, I got the play and the reason for the order. The OP’s order would mean spitting and (any kind of) sinning. If you swap the order (and the play on words is still pretty obvious), it becomes a specific sin that people are known for spitting after. A little upgrade imo.
You have to spit first to provide lubrication for the sin.
