Just to be clear, this doesn’t have to be what you think the best diss track is. I want your favorite.
This CAN be because you think it is the best, but also I want those tracks that you think were the meanest. Or had the sickest beat. Or had the best word play. Whatever makes you love a diss track.
Hit ‘Em Up - 2Pac & Outlawz
Tupac’s parts are amazing and stinging. A great song, only loses me a little when you get towards the middle when the c tier rappers start in
The track girls on D12s devils night. It’s not genius, but it is Eminem sounding angry as fuck, and flows really well.
Never heard this one before, this is dope. Eminem had a lot of good diss tracks around the time period . Can I Bitch, Hailie’s Revenge, Bully, Nail In The Coffin, all sick. I know I missed some too. There was like a 6 year period where Eminem released a ton of excellent diss tracks
Ether and The Warning are probably my favorites
I actually keep Ether on my favorites list on Spotify, the beat is hard as hell. Just have to skip it if the kids are in the car, because (like a lot of old diss tracks), there is some stuff I don’t want them hearing.
Definitely some very homophobic lyrics that are very anachronistic
Can’t believe no one mentioned pusha t the story of adidon
Y’all missed out on the Roxanne wars, I’m tellin ua
So I’ve spent the last hour at work reading and listening to various songs from this. The fact that other rappers got in on this just because is the funniest thing in the world to me.
Queen of the Rox kind of slaps though.
My favorite was from UTFO :)
I have 2 because they have very different reasons.
First is Gucci Mane - Truth. This was a diss aimed at Jeezy. The references to the killing of Pookie Loc during the failed robbery at Gucci’s apartment is one of the coldest thing’s I’ve heard in my life.
Second is Esoteric - Mercy Killing. This isn’t the best diss track in the world, but it holds a special place in my heart. When I first started getting in to rap, I got really in to east coast underground hip hop for some reason. This is also an extremely ambitious track, going after the entire Eastern Conference label, including underground legends such as Aesop Rock and EL-P.
Ice Cube-No Vaseline
Tim Dog-F*ck Compton
DJ Quik-Dollaz & Sense
Canibus-Second Round Knockout
Common-Bitch in You (Cube stays in beef 😂)
