International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen says Canada will provide $5.7 million for Ukrainians to meet their basic needs.

Ottawa says it’s maintaining solidarity with Ukraine two-and-a-half years into Russia’s full-scale invasion as Hussen visits Kyiv.

The trip has a focus on children, with Hussen visiting the main children’s hospital, which was damaged by a Russian missile in July.

The funding includes $2 million for Save the Children Canada, which has helped Ukrainian kids with food, education and psychosocial support.

while it’s great Canada still remembers about Ukraine existence, but $5m is less than budget of small Canadian municipality. Canada can and should do more. We have other items on agenda that require resources and attention, but contribution of that size start to look less like token contribution and more like insults.

As I wrote in tbe other comment in this thread: That’s just a fraction aimed at specific children-related projects. Canada’s total support is much higher as we know.

5.7M? Bro, that’s like the market price for a couple basic townhouses in Vancouver.
