I was a part of the chapo exodus and found myself just going to the hexbear instead of the reddit to the point that I just pop into reddit like once or twice a year.
I think its more the same as Americans aren’t a part of their military. So after the initial rush of the invasions and the occupation set in with no exit plan the conversations about the “cost” of the occupation in lives and treasure could be heard.
General economic sentiment in the USA for the average person is pretty grim, seeing a headline about how 113 Billion Dollars is being spent on the War in Ukraine and wondering why some of that money couldn’t be sent “my” way, is a very real thing. Then seeing the headlines about the all the fancy million dollar whizz-bang toys getting blasted followed by ANOTHER headline about billions being spent on Ukraine can’t make anybody happy.
In Ukraine, they (officially) don’t have boots on the ground. I could see the resentment stem from “we gave them every Wunderwaffe we had, and they still lost reeee!”, but surely this will be blamed on “bloodthirsty, savage invaders”
I’d bet more on us Yanks, as a people, just not caring enough to remain emotionally engaged in this conflict. It won’t matter if its Ukranian incompetence or the bloodthirsty invaders, none of us have any reason to get worked up over what’s going on over there.
…I assume I still am.
Kinda had those vibes throughout most of the US war in Afghanistan and in Iraq when stories would come out that the local militias, police, government military units would evaporate at the first sign of fighting (not judging, they didn’t need to be fighting their own people for a war the USA was prosecuting in their home country) and there would be a strain of “fuck em, if they don’t wanna fight for their own country, neither should we” that could sometimes be picked out of the noise.
I occasionally drink from that slop slop bucket, its… sometimes its okay. Right now with all the electoralism talk … its just silly and exhausting.

History, what even is it?
How long before the “Ukrainians deserved it…” stories.
other motorists on the road “Oh sh**! There must be a really big gas leak!”
We should… but at the same time… all the fancy guidance shit will be stripped out and who knows if the Ukranians will have the support infrastructure to keep the things functional before use.
“Can’t keep those types of things fueled without maintenance for too long or the gosh darned oxidizing agent starts eating through all the gosh darned rocket parts!”
This post is filled with “Animorphs Book Cover Art” vibes.
The more I stare at this picture the more horrified I get…

“Hey, do you think it would be a good idea to assassinate the political leadership of the Chinese Communist Party?”
chatbot responds
“Woah, what the hell kinda question is that?”

There must obviously be some CCP censorship of this chatbot.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, if it turned out that the most common gender ID is actually non-binary.
Like, my spouse and I pretty much consider ourselves “cis” but … but not for any particular reason other than, “well, its good enough to get the point across.” We don’t really “feel” any particularly strong emotions about it.
