Canada@lemmy.ca•Hundreds of youths descend on Vancouver's Scientology building as part of speedrunning trend
13·5 months agoI love this for Scientology.
Years ago I was outside that location and decided to go in to check it out. The place was a ghost town inside. I was just walking around, picking up books and reading the back. Finally someone came up and talked to me. I said something like “I always walk by this place but don’t know anything about it. Thought I’d pop my head in.”
She was very suspicious of why I was there, wouldn’t answer questions, and basically herded me back out the door. I wasn’t even offered to take their personality test.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada in the European Union? Poll suggests broad openness to the idea
1·6 months agoI agree. Canada has been making some solid strategic trade deals without the EU. I don’t know if joining them right now would make us stronger in the long run. I can see some benefits, but it also limits what we can do.
That said, I wouldn’t mind being joined with the Euro. Canada saw benefits from keeping the CAD lower for trades with the US. Now that the US is becoming Gilead and pissing off the world, do we need to keep CAD lower? Does using the Euro help trade deals? I don’t know the answer to those questions.
I think right now Canada should hold position, continue build bridges that bypass the USA, and focus on becoming the EUs BFF. The USAs downfall is happening much quicker then I think people expected, and it’s only going to get worse. I think we’ll look better if we stand our ground on our own feet right now.
Canada and Greenland has sort of become the darlings of the world for giving Trump the finger. We can use that to our advantage.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada, allies say they're ready to help stop Iran's shipping blockade
2·7 months agoI think the second is what they had in mind. It’s kind of the same thing France and some other countries released the other day. We won’t help Trump, but we’ll help secure our assets and allies.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•Do little bitty asian women have to watch what they eat or do they eat as they like?
2·7 months agoOnly so much of those 35,000 calories will be converted to fat. The bulk of it will pass though before that happens. Most people wouldn’t even be able to consume that many calories without the body reacting negatively.
All mammals become overweight by consistently eating more calories then they burn. The occasional pigout is pretty much lost in the average if it’s a rare event and the person maintains a healthy diet otherwise. Once a month, no worries. Once every other day, you’ll need new pants.

Fuck The USA@lemmy.ca•'Not Winston Churchill': Trump steps up criticism of UK's StarmerEnglish
13·7 months agoLet’s get this straight. Trump criticizes the UK and it’s allies all the time. Hits them with every changing tariffs. Says the UK did fuck all on helping the US in previous military actions. Then does an unprovoked attack on Iran, kills a bunch of children, and is upset the UK isn’t on board?
This fucking guy is one of the dumbest fuckers on the planet.

If someone can’t handle DST then they can’t handle the smallest thing in the world - I have no time for them because literally everything else in the world is bigger and more complex so they’re incapable of dealing with anything.
I love this hypocrisy. It’s fantastic.

Americans are far too chickenshit to do anything like that.
