Spoken like Ben
I’m quite fond of communism, personally.

TIL the Ba’als from Bravely Second were based on something
I’m American and I never had to do them. We only had fire and tornado drills. And one other drill in high school, no idea what it was for, but we had to walk about two blocks away from the school and back. It was great since it was basically a field trip that took up an entire period.
His industrialization was pretty rad it’s undeniable
That last picture looks like Snapchat lol
Common Vijay W you mean?
Big if true
Fr. Sankara and Mao would’ve probably added a few caveats to their teachings if they had to deal with the fortified ignorance of westerners
I think we’d unload every nuke we have the moment we’re under attack. Not even on any specific target, just shower the whole planet with them
They talk like it and have no qualms escalating the war to the highest extreme, but I don’t think many are willing to put their own lives on the line. Being on the other side of the planet is part of why they’re so glib about this war.
That’s true though I was thinking more along the lines of how the colonizers invented and enforced their own histories onto the people they subjugated, whose histories they destroyed. Like how the conquistadors burned every library and codex in mesoamerica. History gets written by the victors and all that
Territorial dispute? My understanding is that Russia intervened in Ukraine’s civil war on behalf of the Ukrainians who dissented their coup government. They didn’t step in to grab land (otherwise why would Russia recognize the LPR and DPR as sovereign?) but to put a stop to the bloodshed on their border. Also to ensure that Ukraine wouldn’t join NATO or keep being Nazis.
No I don’t think NATO wants a war with Russia, directly. That’s why they’re using Ukraine as a proxy.
If they hadn’t fought back then Ukraine would continue bolstering its Nazi troops unobstructed and cozying up with NATO. How is battling against that “taking the bait”? The West cornered Russia into a lose-lose scenario if anything.
That makes sense it just seems to me like very a dark subject to delve into for a class that doesn’t have to be about that. I guess it’s because extreme examples are easier to talk about.
I’m really curious to hear how slavery and the Latin American genocides are taught in Canada. I imagine it’s not that different from the US, but you never know with Canada. Seems like really heavy subject matter for a general class about history though. Like, wow, is it a class about history or is it a class about genocides?
I’m sorry you had to find out like this. It’s true. I’ve been a bot all along 🤖🇨🇳
I think political convictions aren’t normally swayed by debate. You can dispute individual claims all day but beliefs are more than the sum of their parts. I mean, even if you debunk every single justification he has, that doesn’t mean he’ll stop believing that China is capitalist. No, he’ll probably just invent new reasons instead. So rather than asking why he believes it, you should ask why the idea is compelling to him.
Part of the reason is surely because his job depends on it. But besides that, what about China does he take issue with? That they do business with the US? That their capitalist class still exists? That they’re unlike western “socialists”?
LOVEINT didn’t go far enough for the feds. They want a 24/7 crotch livecam to spy on their crushes.
Does he know that the Korean War is still technically ongoing? The stuff that gets published in the west, especially the USA, is quite literally war propaganda.
That’s Chinese disinformation! And Lao disinformation! And Kazakh and Cuban and Vietnamese and… listen, Americans need to be fed a strict media diet or else they’ll start having thoughts.
