Resolve is basically the only “professional-grade” software for creative work on Linux, and even there depending on hardware like video card the experience will be vastly different
I really dislike windows (and the likelihood of people on Lemmy having the same preference as me is very high), but if you need to do game development or most creative work, I would say to not bother with Linux, it’s not there yet to be fully honest. Maybe in 5 years Photoshop and the music creation software will support Linux, but for now there’s a few lesser known softwares that don’t have as many features. For the other kinds of work though, Linux I think is better than windows
It belonged to another startup, I guess they were négociating and seeing if Threads would pick up in usage before giving them an offer that they wouldn’t refuse
Yeah everytime I open it for updates it shows me a popup ad. For the VPN my only reference point is Proton VPN premium servers, when using it the downloads don’t move, disable it, and it starts going instantly
It goes to my pile of reasons for not using it, currently, I have:
I think in general ARM support is better on Linux than on windows, because ARM servers have been a thing for a few years now. I think basically the entire Ubuntu repository is compiled for ARM now.
For the battery life, I’m not even sure an arm laptop is what you need considering the state of driver support for power efficiency features vs Intel or amd chips. The new Intel lunar lake chips especially score exceptionally well in terms of efficiency. Better battery life with less noise as the AMD HX Zen5 and about as good as the Apple M3 levels of good

I think it’s more of the expiration date should be more explicitly a suggestion and a limit for the retailers. People think after the best by date it’s no longer good, when in reality it literally means what’s written: better before, not bad after. I’d say it’s a wording thing first, because using an actual expiration date is impossible, and would open food producer to petty lawsuits about the product being not good 1 day before the estimated date
🫨🫨I can’t wait for the articles saying Republicans eat the innocent dogs of the good American citizens! That will happen right! The articles about the Haitians weren’t just racist, right?.. Right?!
That’s the worst part, it was offered at launch and it was very easy: simple APK install and the click of a button! But suddenly they decided to remove it without any prior warning, and now, after a year or two of promises of BL unlock coming back “in a few months”, they simply said fuck you
Fun c’est vraiment de la fumée qu’on veut dans l’air celle de batteries au lithium
Heh, I would say the cheaters are generally much more immature and likely to DDOS. I think there is a lot of overlap over video game cheaters and script kiddies, especially when the cheaters are called hackers
What the actual fuck.
I get rate limiting the amount of passwors that can be tried (especially when they have a pre-defined limit of 4 or 6 numbers), but going over hours or days between attempts is a bit extreme
It’s not about xenophobism, it’s about not relying on a nation that could have the incentive to flip the switch in a few years when they think it’s convenient for them. The US gov sees all the shiny and cheap stuff coming from China as trojan horses
Never underestimate crackheads and drunk people
When it’s an enemy nation yes it can be used as a point. This is also the exact same reason why China banned most things coming from the USA, and the things that make it there are very tightly controlled by China’s government
People throw electric scooters and bikes in lakes and rivers the day they are released in the wild, I’m sure someone would take one and see what’s inside before throwing it in the water
