This is what’s known as creating the reserve army of labour. It’s a good reminder that the capitalist class understands Marxist economic model perfectly fine.
think that’s right
That’s because intellectual dishonesty is fundamentally required to hold a liberal world view.
Right, sanctions are basically a modern version of siege warfare.
Yeah that too, as if Marx just had some fringe opinions that most economists dismiss, as opposed having produced an economic theory that’s the foundation for the most rapidly developing nation on the planet.
And they like to peddle this notion that Marx may have had some valid points back in hist time, but it’s just ridiculous to say that any of that applies to capitalism as it is today. This is rooted both in lack of having actually read Marx, but also in lack of understanding the sheer scale of exploitation that results from modern application of capitalism. These people are completely insulated from the horrors of the system, and in my view a lot of it comes down to wilful ignorance.

can’t have pictures of burning Abrams if you don’t send them in
Her video is a perfect example of somebody having a lot of expertise in one domain and making the mistake of thinking that it’s easily transferable to a different domain. She falls into many common traps such as using no true Scotsman fallacy to defend capitalism, brushes off places like Cuba and DPRK without considering the context, and completely ignores the exploitation inherent in the capitalist system. She also appears to conflate markets with capitalism, and doesn’t even bother considering whether useful aspects of capitalism could be applied within a different framework.
Overall, it was a very superficial and disappointing video from her that immediately made me question things she talks about on subjects I’m not well versed in.
a lot of it is just marketing
The figures in the wax museum look way more alive than Biden.
I expect it’s more likely going to be because these countries are going to refuse doing business with the west as they start aligning with BRICS.
From what I’ve read, the difficulty is largely in coordinating production of various different components. Apple not being able to build macs in US because they couldn’t source enough of a particular type of screw is a perfect example of this. Every device like a phone has thousands or millions of different components needed to assemble it. Auditing the whole supply chain to ensure that you can produce all of these components domestically and in sufficient numbers is pretty difficult. China has a huge advantage here because it’s where most advanced manufacturing is happening.
Exactly, we see that western companies managed to go through these 3 generations in a few years, and there’s no reason to expect that it’s going to take China longer. If anything, I’m expecting China will be able to do it faster because the techniques for doing this are now known, and Chinese researchers know which approaches to pursue. Furthermore, nothing stops China from just hiring the researchers that were involved in developing western chips.
And yeah, the fact that China managed to create this whole industry domestically effectively overnight is incredibly impressive.
I imagine China’s going to have to write that off at some point.
Specifically, RISC based chips. As I recall Chinese companies are focusing on RISC-V as opposed to ARM since RISC-V is an open architecture.
I think it’s pretty likely that there will be some sort of an event like January 6th, that will be used to justify actual fascism in US. Both parties are rapidly militarizing the police and passing draconian laws against protesting and organizing. Much of the state machinery is already in place, and they just need a good excuse to deploy it at this point.
Representing the interests of the majority is one thing they’ll never do. :)
Remember this when libs keep repeating that Ukraine is defending western values. These are the values they’re talking about.
