Unless by “everywhere” you mean Europe you might consider that MUCH of the world is more authoritarian than the USA and would, by the anarchy/liberalism vs conservatism binary, be further to the right than America currently is.

Remember a ton of countries are not politically free in any real fashion. For example Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and DPRK are all to the right of the USA and especially Sander’s views.

it’s funny the Americans consider him so far left

Sure, the US is more open than literally the least open governments in the world.

I love how often defending the US is basically just saying “yeah but it’s not that bad compared to Sudan.”

Almost anywhere else is still a really Eurocentric and ignorant claim. The USA is to the left of the majority of countries on earth unless you are using the EUROPEAN economic binary which does not fit MOST of the world.

Im not saying you’re Eurocentric but your claim absolutely is and it is far too common of a mistake for supposed progressives to make.

          I’m not progressive, I’m canadian.

Isn’t one of Bernie’s main policy goals universal healthcare?

Isn’t that something most developed countries already have?

“Developed” countries is a racist phrase that splits the world into an arbitrary dichotomy and implies that

            A) there is an end-point to civilizations and

            B) the “other” (developing) countries are objectively worth less than the developed countries.

one of bernies main policies goals universal Healthcare

Certainly his most popular one but far from the only one.

            See also:

            cannabis and other drug legalization

            free 4 year tuition

afforsable housing reform (this should be a big one for you in Canada)

            UBI

            100% Renewable energy

            free childcare

abolish ICE and reform America’s immigration policies to welcome immigrants

Most of these policies would place Bernie Sanders as a far left Democrat across the Western world

“Developed” countries is a racist phrase that splits the world into an arbitrary dichotomy and implies that

It has nothing to do with race. There are hundreds of other countries in the world, comprised of varied races, and thousands of ethnicities within those countries. If it’s anything it would be nationalistic, ethnocentric, or economic elitism.

I support ‘afforsable’ housing reform, I actually dedicate a lot of my time to that.

Between that and helping send supplies to Ukraine it take most of my available time and disposable income.

Would you classify me as far-right?

Haha, throwing rocks at typing mistakes is fun.

‘take’ vs ‘takes’ ooof, you’re in a glass house and throwing rocks. You know what they say about that.

Most of the world, is not progressive. You did back pedal to only ‘developed’ worlds as if theyre the only ones that matter, but it doesn’t correct your initial claim. And then to simply fall to ad hominem against the other commenter is just silly.

You should have just stopped responding after your mistake was pointed out. Or took the high road and admitted the mistake.

If you really want to get into it, I spelt take right but I used the wrong word.

I still believe Bernie is centre left in the majority of the world.

Why would I classify you as far right? I’m saying that Bernie Sanders is definitely extreme far left globally and certainly not just “center left” when compared to plenty of other western leaders

            That’s using that Euro binary.

The Euro binary only makes sense when liberal democracy is the default. That is not true in Africa or Asia which is factually most of the world.
