Youth sports have a significant impact on the development of all children. Sports provide children opportunities to build their social skills and confidence, as well as improve their sense of belonging and physical fitness.

What happens to these spaces when adults are given permission to inspect a child’s body to determine their gender?

The Supreme Court rulings on Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. decided that transgender girls cannot play sports that align with their gender identity. Not only does this ruling essentially prohibit transgender kids from participating in most youth sports – codifying the exclusion this vulnerable population already experiences – it also puts all children at risk of the harmful consequences of body surveillance.

Which is of course the idea. All this transphobia bullshit is just an excuse to harass and control women.

Don’t forget the part where pedos can come into being a coach and request the ability to fondle little girls to check if they have a penis or not. Very important thing to not forget!

Yep, women are already enduring ridiculous scrutiny under thinly veiled transphobia they’re calling “protection.” Imane Khelif is a great example of how this is affecting women’s ability to play professional sports.

If we ignore the fact that she’s not transgender: trans women tend to be on oestrogen, and on testosterone blockers. They can’t compete with men the same way cis women can’t.

Why would you conflate her case with transgenderism?

To answer you though: if a cis-man takes ‘one’ oestrogen and ‘one’ testosterone blocker, can a cis-woman compete with them? Or do you think it depends?

Oh, have you taken biology in university, too? Don’t talk down to me when you didn’t even read the entire article. The tests they supposedly used to verify her chromosomes were made up.

No, but that has nothing to do with this boxer. If anything, her experience reinforces the headline of the article I posted.

If she has Y chromosomes, she can

            source

Athletes that are deemed to be male at birth, as evidenced by the presence of Y chromosome genetic material (the SRY gene) or with a difference of sexual development (DSD) where male androgenization occurs, will be eligible to compete in the male category.

It seems that 20% of men with de la Chapelle don’t have the SRY gene:

About 20 percent of those with 46 XX testicular disorder of sex development do not have the SRY gene. This form of the condition is called SRY-negative 46,XX testicular disorder of sex development.

So a lot of men can just still compete. Insane that they’re not at least being competent and using more sexual characteristics.

Looking at the site now, they do consider DSDs, but I’m not sure how they reliably test for that.

If you are unable to read, why comment? The whole thread is about how they would not let her compete in the woman’s category either because transphobes are idiots.

Imane was born a woman. She identifies as a woman. No one but a corrupt Russian judge has ever said otherwise. Which is telling.

You do realise the situation with Imane is the exact opposite. People decided she was a man and started to attack her. She’s evidence of gender as a social construct.

Yeah they’re about how an arbitrary organisation has decided to, again arbitrarily, split up the messy and complicated mess that is “”““biological sex””“”".
